The objective of the City of Berkeley's Employment Programs is to facilitate the employment of people seeking jobs. The programs are an essential resource in the community that helps enrich the future of the citizens with innovative, effective services, and strong community partnership.
Overview
The City of Berkeley's Employment Programs consists of:
First Source, and
YouthWorks.
First Source creates employment linkages between Berkeley employers and residents.
YouthWorks is an employment program specifically for people between the ages of 14 and 25. YouthWorks provides the young people of Berkeley with invaluable employment opportunities that helps transition them to the adult working world.
North Cities OneStop Career Center
The EastBay Works North Cities OneStop Career Center located at 1918 Bonita Avenue in Berkeley offers comprehensive employment services to jobseekers and employers at no cost.

Education, Employment, Resources, and Training in the Community
Asians for Job Opportunities in the Bay Area (A.J.O.B.)
Clients: targeted towards Asian and other limited English-speaking communities
Training in: Building maintenance, clerical, computer skills, cashiering, and ESL classes
Services: job counseling, tutorial, interpretation, translation, and vocational ESL; on-site computer for Berkeley's One-Stop Career Center Community Internet Access

A.S.S.E.T.S.: Senior Employment Opportunities Program
Clients: residents of Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, or Emeryville who are 55 years of age or older and meet income guidelines
Services: paid work experience, classroom training, personalized guidance, and information in job-hunting, resources for job searches; participants earn minimum wages while training for re-entry into the labor market

Training in: computer software, keyboarding/typing, job preparation, clothing construction, forklift driver, professional cooking and baker training, Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA), medical - clerical, medical terminology, and pharmacy technician
Services: career assessment, job training and job placement assistance, college financial aid information, G.E.D., adult basic education, high school classes, and literacy improvement
