BERKELEY NEIGHBORHOOD COMPUTERS

Works to increase computer education and access for families. Receives donated computers (Mac, PC and mainframes), provides pickup and tax deduction. Repairs and loans out personal computers to West Berkeley families with children in certain school grades (6th-11th) or programs and provides technical and educational support in collaboration with existing schools and programs. Organizes computer-literate volunteers who want to share their knowledge with their neighbors and/or do repairs and offer technical support. INTERNET AT THE LIBRARY!
All four branch libraries, including West Branch, Berkeley Public Library, 1125 University Ave., provide free graphical access to the Internet. Internet computers are available from the time the library opens until 1 hour before closing. Sign up to use one for up to 2 hours a week and up to a week in advance. Call the branch library of your choice for more information and to make reservations. Walk-in use is possible if the computer is available. Free beginning classes in learning to use the Internet are available at the branch libraries. Check with the Information Desk at the West Berkeley branch library for details. Contact: 644-6870
